Servant of God Mindedness...or a...Friend of God Mindedness.

Servant of God mindedness is a Old Covenant mindset.

Friend/Son of God mindedness is a New Covenant mindset.

John 15:15, says: No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Servant-ship mindedness portrays a slave mentality...Friendship/son-ship mindedness portrays a relationship mentality.

The disadvantage of servants is they know not what their master is doing, wants done or will do. They do not know the plan of God for humanity because they do not know the ways of God concerning the finished cross-work of Christ and are still trying to relate to Him as His servant because they still think with a servant mindset. They are unaware or refuse the freedom of grace...son-ship...that the finished work of Christ has provided to end the servant mentality.

On the other hand, friendship or son-ship minded people know what the Father is doing because Jesus...the express image of God...the only true reveal-er of God...reveals to friends and sons the plan and purpose of God for the Community of the Redeemed in the Community of Humanity.

If we don't know or refuse to accept the finished cross-work of Christ, it may be because we still think with a servant mindset. People who only sit around...‘waiting on God’...go to conferences because they want to be in on what God is doing and receive receive their marching orders, or chase their idol-olic preachers to get the will of God for the day, is evidence they don’t know what God is doing, has done or wants done, therefore are Gospel ignorant.

Don't take this observation as condemning people with that kind of mindset,  I merely feel that this mindset will keep people in bondage as servants and slaves, endlessly trying to please God by their performing performance.

Having a servant heart is different from having a servant mindset. A servant heart flows from a friendship/son-ship mindset, while a servant-ship or slave-ship mindset flows from a servant's performance mindset in the striving of doing the do's and not doing the don'ts.

A slave mindset person has to be told what to do and if they don’t do it, there are consequences, which they believe either pleases or angers God. The way servants relate to their master is not based on a love relationship...instead...it is based on their performance and their ability to do what their master requires of them.

A son mindset doesn’t see a loving Father as a Master Lording over them. A son relates to their father out of love. We are sons of God who serve, not slaves of God who perform: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. (Gal 3:26-4:3)

Servant minded believing causes performance performing junkies. They base their relationship with God on their ability to do, or not do what they consider is His will. Son minded believers don’t base their relationship on their own performance, but know that they are the righteousness of God in Christ and allow Christ to do His work through them. In regards to doing the will of God, New Covenant sons know the will of their Father and don’t have to wait to be told what to do.

And which of you, having a servant ploughing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down to eat'? But will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink'? Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not. So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.' (Luke 17:7-10)

Jesus is teaching about an unprofitable servant. What makes a servant unprofitable? According to Him it’s when a servants only do what they are told to do. But that sounds like it would make them profitable, accountable, obedient and trustworthy? How then can doing what they’re told make them unprofitable? Because they had to be told what to do. No initiative or responsibility was taken. There is nothing wrong with acting on something we’re told to do, but obeying only because we are told specifically what to do is spiritually unprofitable. Waiting on the Lord is not about sitting around while time goes by until God speaks through some servant minded leader and tells us what we need to do to please God.

Mature son-mindedness is not in need of constant supervision, servant mindedness on the other hand, is. So in order for believers to be profitable, they need revelation of God’s never changing will so as to line up their will with His, and just do as the occasion calls for: "Then the Spirit of the Eternal One will overtake you, you will be caught up in the same prophetic spirit as these prophets, and you will be changed into a different person.  When these signs come to pass, do what you think is best. The True God is with you." (1 Sam 10:6-7).

Start taking the responsibility to act on truth instead of waiting for what is thought to be truth from some preacher servant minded man. If you get to the point where you are doing the will of the Father without Him having to specifically tell you to do it, you are in a mature son-ship relationship. If you always wait to be told what to do, you are in a servant mindset relationship.

So what is the will of God...according to 2 Cor 5:18-20, "Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God." Also 1Tim 2:3-5 says, "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,  who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus."

There is no doubt...God’s will is reconciliation. It is His will that the world be reconciled to Him in Christ. He desires ALL people to be saved. All people are reconciled by the blood of Jesus Christ. As believers we have been given the responsibility to minister His reconciliation so people will repent (turn to Him).
