Paul's thought on the Law.

Galatians 4:21-31, "Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which engendereth to bondage, which is Hagar. For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not; for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the Scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free."

From the above scripture could we conclude that religion denies the work of Christ’s the finished work of the cross and Christ’s resurrection  which is a denial of the love, grace and mercy of God in our lives!

Religion is absolutely devastating to a relationship with God. It is often nothing more than a form of pride and self-righteousness that the enemy of God works diligently to promote in people’s lives.

Religion partners in justice...if you feel and teach that people need to PAY for their wrongs by being subjected to condemnation and penalties and the thrust of your preaching is “turn or burn”, you can rest assured you are caught up in a religious mindset. To listen to the religionists  one would think that the gospel is about revenge and retribution. The good news of the gospel is about grace, mercy and love. Jesus on the cross did not seek revenge and retribution...NO,NO, NO, He desired mercy, grace and love for them...for he said, “Father FORGIVE them!”

Religion does not mix with grace. Religion’s relationship with God is based of feelings, it wants to feel like it’s right with God because it strives to do the do’s and not do the dont’s of the law to prove that they have been good and have kept all the rules. Religion is about earning God’s acceptance by their keeping of the law. Grace is receiving God’s acceptance because Christ has fulfilled the Law...something that man can never do, no matter how religious he may be.
