An Accomplishment of the Cross.

One accomplishment of the cross that many people fail to understand, and because of not understanding this result of the cross, they do not understand the Gospel nor God’s plan for the Community of the Redeemed in the Community of Humanity. Therefore, without knowing it, they side with satan in his effort to hinder Gospel reality.

Paul says in 2:19, For I through the Law [under the operation of the curse of the Law] have [in Christ’s death for me] myself died to the Law and all the Law’s demands upon me, so that I may [henceforth] live to and for God. When did Paul and all the Community of the redeemed die to the Law? Through the cross.

The Law causes out sinful nature to be ignite and want to be fed. For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code (Rom. 7:5-6).

People do not sin because sin exists, we sin because the sin nature when fed demands satifaction and often that is all it takes for us to sin. When we were kids and told to not to do something, that was enough to make the sin nature hungry for a taste of what we were forbidden to do and more often then not we did it. The more laws that demand living up to, the easier it is to be a law-breaker. Thus the Mosaic Law with its demand for obedience is a deterrent to obedience because the Law is DEVOID of RELATIONSHIP. The Law is external driven and motivated and not love or grace motivated. But those who consider themselves to have died with Christ have been set free from the bondage of the law and the incentive for doing right and not committing sin is rooted and based on a RELATIONSHIP with GOD through CHRIST.

Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man. So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God Rom.7:1-4).

The only release from the Law is through death...thanks be to God for the cross and resurrection of Jesus our Lord in accomplishing that very thing for us. We are FREE from the LAW and the sinning it feeds.
