Though the Bible is Fascinating, Bible Fascination is Idolization.

The fascination with and the idolization of the bible by the fundamental and evangelical spectrum of religion, minimizes Jesus while maximizing the bible.

"Well we do not elevate the bible over Jesus," you may respond.

How often have you heard from well meaning fundamental or evangelical people..."If your looking for truth, read the Bible. If you want peace, read the Bible. If you want a better relationship with God, read the Bible. If you want all answers to life, read the Bible. If you want to know God's plan for your life, read the Bible. If you want to know the future, read the Bible."

The thing is, you may know the bible inside out and able to quote it backwards, but be a legalist to the point of being spiritually dead. Bible reading is important but it is not our source of spirituality, Jesus is. "If your looking for truth, ask Jesus. If you want peace, you will find it in Jesus. If you want a better relationship with God, go to Him and ask Him to speak to you, etc..." The Bible doesn't tell us to revert back to the Bible text. It tells us to go to God personally! The bible points us to Jesus yet, for many, the bible is a source of distraction from Jesus and has been made into an Idol.

John 5:38-40, But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

2 Corinthians 3:6, “He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant–not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter(Law) kills, but the Spirit (of Grace) gives life.”
The Law give life, no, no, the Law KILLS, it is the Spirit of Grace that GIVES LIFE.

Behold Jesus in and through the Written Word! Know the Jesus in YOU, and act according to His Word. If your focus is on the Bible and not on the Person of Jesus, then there is something wrong; because the Bible is not "The word of God", only Jesus is "The Word of God"!

The bible reflects Who Jesus is...Jesus is GRACE...Jesus is LOVE!

To know the bible does not mean you know the WORD. Many people quote the bible yet, they are void of the WORD of God. Without knowing Jesus and His Spirit to bring life to the written word, it is a dead word and it is of no more value than quoting any other religious book.

The Abusive Tool of Fear-Mongering.

  Fear mongering is an abusive tool used by religion which cripples and limits one's spiritual growth to mature to the full stature of Christ. The fear mongering propaganda that is used as a means to get people saved speaks volumes about the quality of love used to try and scare people to become Christ followers. The scriptures declare that is is the “goodness of God that leads to repentance.” Another characteristic of  fear mongering believers is that they believe that natural disasters are God’s doing and are warnings or punishment for the sin of sinning people. Their sin consciousnesses has blurred their God consciousnesses to where they see God as the big bad wolf waiting to pounce on somebody for sinning.
