Doctrine or Jesus?

What matters most to us as believers, “Doctrine” or “Jesus”? Some people are so hung up on the point of doctrine they have missed the person of Jesus!

The thing about doctrine is that it can and does exist in isolation. Doctrine is isolated by the segregation of people into religious groups based on their believing the same doctrine. The name tags over the doors of buildings called churches is to let people know who are of “like faith” that the doctrines you believe is the doctrines we teach. If you agree with our doctrine this is the place for you. Come and segregate with us!

Shucks...they even have you sign membership cards to ensure you agree with their brand of doctrine to join their group as a member. The reason we have so many divided denominational groups is because of the different doctrines that each group holds to as truth, thus they set up their own fortress to corral as many people they can persuade that their doctrine is the correct one and they call it church...join us the “true church” and we will isolate and protect you from all the other doctrines out there that will lead you down the wrong path.

Grace on the other hand requires relationship with God through Jesus that brings a new way of living instead of a new belief system and tears down the barriers of division. It is living in Christ allowing Him to live His life through you as brothers and sisters of Father God, to accomplish His purpose instead of the purpose of a denominated religious group.

Why believers would want to wade in the shallows of doctrine and hide behind the rocks of denominational persuasion to accomplish denominational objectives, when we can swim in the depths of the freedom of His Grace  allowing Jesus full reign in our lives to accomplish His purpose in His redeemed community so He will accomplish His purpose in the community of humanity as a whole.

Belief systems are based on the different ways of thinking. Grace on the other hand is based love and giving providing a new way of living. This living becomes more experiential as we grow in the understanding of God along our relational journey with God. This living only happens as we follow Jesus not someone’s belief system.

As believers we often hear and talk about developing a personal relationship “with” Jesus, but instead many pursue knowledge “about” Jesus as taught to us by people within our choice of belief system. We bypass the believers true teacher the person of the Holy Spirit. We become content on placing our trust and confidence in a definite, accepted belief system and close our heart and mind to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. This is a pathetic substitute for a daily living and the adventure of traveling on relational relationship journey with God getting to know Him on an intimate basis.

The truth of the matter is that the indoctrinated is so inundated with man-made sophisticated indoctrination that it overshadows and veils the pure doctrine of God’s “redeeming love”!

Believers are to have a dynamic relationship with God...not with a certain belief system! This will ensure doctrinal purity because Jesus is pure, thus His doctrine is pure...”love one another as I have love you”...”by this shall all men know you are my disciples, by the love you have one for the other”...”Father I pray that they will be ONE as YOU and I ARE ONE.”

This Hymn is rooted in the doctrine of Christ.

“Come, thou fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise His name I'm fixed upon it,
Name of God's redeeming love.

Hither to thy love has blest me
Thou has brought me to this place
And I know thy hand will bring me
Safely home by thy good grace
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Bought me with his Precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

Come, thou fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise His name I'm fixed upon it,
Name of God's redeeming love.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise His name I'm fixed upon it,
Name of God's redeeming love.”

Hallelujah... Hallelujah... Hallelujah to our loving Father for the true doctrine of His REDEEMING LOVE!
