The Pitfall of Believers.
The pitfall for Believers is that they'll abandon the Grace gospel that was revealed to Paul by Jesus Christ and swallow the deception of man-made rules and traditions. This tendency to mistake man-made religion for genuine spirituality was a problem in Jesus' day, and it's still a problem today.
Today because of long established traditions of men, accepting man's interpretation of scripture, false teachings, and pride, men have twisted the Scriptures to satisfy themselves, their followers and the hierarchy of their denomination instead of being true to God. Many are sincere but cannot let go of the false traditions because of their their pride... many stand to lose too much, their position, their income, their celebrity status...etc. and they also fear persecution from the religious system as many have endured in the past that has stood for truth over tradition.
There are many preachers who have preached the man-made doctrines for so many years, they are deceived and have come to believe the false doctrine as biblical.
Think about it...a minister that has preached false doctrine for years is going to have to stand up before the congregation and tell them that he has misled them over the years, that what he has been preaching is not the whole truth, and even some of it is absolutely false. There are those within religion's grip whose pride will not permit them to face the truth to admit that their false man-made doctrines are from the pit. It would be overwhelming for that preacher to do such a thing...none the less, it would certainly be the right thing to do. If they do not repent and acknowledge the truth to people, They WILL acknowledge the truth before God sooner or later!
I realize this is hard to swallow, but it is true. Many people say that "my father, mother and grandparents believed this way, this is the way my denomination believes, if it was good enough for them it is good enough for me". They follow that with the phrase "I was born a ..?.. , I have been a ..?.. all my life and I will die a ..?.. .
